Liverpool should go all-in for Solskjaer’s top target ahead of Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Manchester City, according to Rio Ferdinand.

At the end of the season, when a release clause of between €75 million (£63 million) and €100 million (£84 million) can be triggered, the Borussia Dortmund striker is likely to be one of the most sought-after attackers in the world.

The 21-year-old has already established himself as one of Europe's top scorers with 70 goals in 69 games for Dortmund.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a deliberate effort to attract the Norway international, who he managed at Molde, to United during his stint at Old Trafford. Haaland, on the other hand, is better suited to spearheading Jurgen Klopp's attack, according to Ferdinand. "I believe he would be better suited to other teams [than Manchester City]," Ferdinand told BT Sport.

'I'd take him right now if I were Liverpool.'

If he joins Liverpool, he'll be part of a dangerous front three. If he goes to Liverpool, I don't think he'll have as much trouble adjusting. It's a completely different system.

"You see, Jack Grealish has moved to Man City; he's a good player, a brilliant player, and we all like seeing him play, but he'll find it difficult to adjust and fit into that club." There aren't many guys who go there and adjust right away." Meanwhile, Michael Owen believes that Haaland would be best suited to Manchester City, and that if he transferred to Anfield, Mohamed Salah's goal record would suffer. "When Liverpool is at its finest, they leave a hole in the middle of the field up front." Firmino or Jota will be taken off for those inside runs. If Haaland was in the lineup, I'm not sure Salah would score as many goals," Owen remarked.

"It's an incredible prospect, but I'd think Manchester City would be the most likely [destination]."

I'm not sure if there's any animosity between Haaland, his agency, and his father [Alf-Inge], who obviously played against Roy Keane at Manchester United.

"I don't think Manchester United would be a good fit." [Romelu] Lukaku recently joined Chelsea, and I'm not convinced he'd fit in at Liverpool. Man City, in my opinion."
